About Us

Hello!

We’re Pete and Katie Carlson. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about us and our goals to start a family through adoption.

How we met.

We met in 2011 at The University of North Georgia, we lived across the hall from one another. We started dating in 2012 and shortly after Pete enlisted into the U.S. Army!

We said “I Do” in September of 2014.

Pete was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska so we eloped and started our life together in the Last Frontier.

Where we’ve lived…

  • Alaska

Alaska will always hold a special place in our heart. It’s where we started married life and adopted our sweet pup Coco! We loved hiking and fishing and taking in the beauty of the state!

  • North Carolina

North Carolina is a beautiful state to explore! We enjoyed weekends in Asheville, trips to the beach and how close we were to both of our families!

  • Minnesota

Minnesota really took us by surprise! We never expected to be stationed in the Mid-West! We bought our first home here and are surrounded by amazing friends!

My Wife.

Katie might possibly be the most amazing and unique person I have ever met. Katie has the most intuitive and empathetic persona, seemingly connecting with friends and strangers miraculously at their time of need. I adore her ability to be the shoulder to cry on or provide the words of wisdom to myself or our friends. I have seen Katie truly walk through fire for the ones she loves.

We have a joke around our friend circle that Katie is the “man of the house,” because she is insanely talented at fixing, building, and crafting about anything you could dream up. She loves spending hours building a table, painting, or creating interior decorations for our home.

Katie and I love to get outside and walk our Shar Pei Coco through our neighborhood. She has been an amazing travel partner as we have hiked the Chugach Mountains in Alaska, visited the Washington Memorial in D.C., and explored the amazing tiny town of Grand Marais. I know she is going to be a fabulous mother because she is currently teaching me how to paint, and I have the fine motor skills of a child.

My Husband.

While it’s almost impossible to describe someone as amazing as Pete in a couple short paragraphs, I’ll begin with this:  Pete is the embodiment of 1 Corinthians 13:4  love. He is patient and kind, does not boast nor is he prideful. He works every day to honor God and is the least self-serving person I know. Growing together over the last ten years we’ve faced our fair share of struggles and I have never seen him falter in his faith and conviction to do what is right.

He is the rock of our family. He has proven through his time in the military and our marriage to be a strong leader. Pete has a heart for service and is the first to offer a helping hand.

I’d say he’s most passionate about fitness, if he’s not at home I’d bet he’s in the gym. He loves to be outdoors, hiking and playing sports. He’s recently taken to cooking and makes about three meals, but he does it well! I’ve never seen him set a goal he couldn’t accomplish, whether it’s academic or professional. I know it’s cliché to say your husband is your best friend, but for me, it couldn’t be more true.
